Peace Love and Happiness Foundation brings drilling rig to create well for clean water

Project Description/Impact:

A generous donation from the Peace Love and Happiness Foundation allowed us to purchase a drilling rig to meet the growing demand of clean water in rural villages. The rig has the capacity to drill up to 1000 meters (3280feet). This rig will allow us to reduce the cost to dig boreholes. When a village receives a well that brings clean water, it is women and girls who often spend hours every day carrying water and the children who get sick from water borne diseases who benefit the most.

Matthew McConaughey helped bring supplies to displaced families

Project Description/Impact:

Thanks to a $200,000 donation from Matthew McConaughey, we were able monthly donate 50kg bag of rice, 50kg of millet, 5 litres of oil and 5 kg of sugar to 100 different families in the communties of Socoura, Begnemato and commune of Mopti, where many displaced families are living having fled the violence in the region. Total impact for the year was 1200 families each with about 8-10 members.

Project Description/Impact:

A generous donation from JPs Peace Love and Happiness Foundation allowed us to start construction on a 9 classroom school in the city of Ouelessebougou. When completed, it will provide quality education for children from 1st grade to 9th and help alleviate the overcrowding in this fast growing community.

Partners: Building Youth Around the World

Project Description/Impact:

A generous donation from the Building Youth Around the World Foundation allowed us to build a three classroom school and a three home teacher housings in the village of Karagouan. The village only had one primary school and were grouping 119 girls and 118 boys from grade 1-6 into 3 classrooms. The school will alleviate these overcrowding conditions. The teacher housing consists of 3 homes. Each home has two bedrooms and living room and will provide quality housing for teachers in this remote village.

Pogosso was able to get a new three classroom school

Project Description/Impact:

A generous donation from the B.H Roberts Foundation/Coates Family allowed us to break ground on a new three classroom school in the village of Pogosso, a remote village 45Km from the big city of Koutiala. The school will have three classrooms that are fully equipped, a directors office and 6 latrines. ( 3 boys and 3 girls)

The first middle school was completed in Sibiribougou

Project Description/Impact:

A generous donation from the Building Youth Around the World Foundation allowed us to break ground on a new three classroom school in Sibiribougou. This is our first middle school in the capital city. The classrooms in Sibiribougou are so overcrowded that there are 304 students in 7th grade, 142 in 8th grade and 145 in 9th grade. The school will help reduce the overcrowding by adding three classrooms that are fully equipped, a directors office and 6 latrines. ( 3 boys and 3 girls)

Project Description/Impact:

Completed a three classroom primary school serving 150 children each year in the village of Siemen and surrounding villages. The village already has one three classroom primary school but because of the number of students, the school has delayed registration to every other year.

A generous donation from the Garbett Family Foundation allowed us to provide 150 students with textbooks at our school in MoroMoro.The textbooks will be overseen by the education committee in the village and used by students year after year

The lack of availability of textbooks means that much of classroom time is focused on copying notes of the board rather than active learning.
